Dear Friends,
Next week I am going to take my 18 mo. grand daughter away from her mom & dad. I am going to hold her for about 5 days. I will only be putting her down when it is my turn to hit the golf ball. This will be my first trip out of town since I agreed to be your candidate for Tucson City Council. I will return Oct. 1st for a big push to the finish of this campaign.
Please tell everyone you know, “Dan Spahr will win the Ward 4 council seat because the electorate is unhappy with this council”. Those voters feel abused and manipulated. Voting for Dan Spahr will be the voters way of sending a message to Tucson City Hall, “Shape up or you are next to voted out!”. This council is no different than past councils. The voters are ready for results. They want to see a viable downtown redevelopment, not talked about, but progress to completion. The voters are ready for a council that is transparent. I intend to see to it the voters are informed.
There is so much to do and I am ready to lead Tucson into the future. Tell everyone you know, Dan Spahr will win the Ward 4 council seat. The voters will demand it. Dan

FANTASTIC RESULTS DAN! In uncontested primary races, you don’t get much turnout, so to see you neck & neck is very encouraging.
I’ll keep spreading the word.

How do you feel about the second amendment? NRA guy
What about the small businesses - I saw your web about the corporate guys (?) how about SEBA?
NRA Guy, I am having lunch with Sandra Froman, immediate past president of the NRA on Wednesday at Roadrunner Civitan. Would you like to join us? 9/5/07 at noon at the ‘Lodge On The Desert’, $17.00. I have owned guns all my life. My Dad was a Marine in WWII. He took me hunting for rabbits and pheasants once I was old enough to be responsible. Needless to say I believe in the Second Amendment. ds
I have been involved in small business my entire career as a self employed, commissioned insurance and investment salesman. Small business people in Tucson must endure way too much baloney with the city, just trying to be successful. This city needs to correct those problems and be a catalyst for small businesses to flourish. ds

Bradley and I showed up at the Ward 4 Back to School Bash. What a great event. This is certainly a tradition that I will want to continue when elected. I always enjoy watching families having fun together. This event is also a wonderful opportunity for the firemen and police to interact with the crowd. I understand ‘most’ of the police and firemen came on their own time. Otherwise that would be a significant cost of taxpayer dollars ‘for a party’. It makes you wonder how much of today’s party was charged off to Ward 4 or was that expensed to Shirley’s campaign money. Did you ever wonder how much of our tax dollars actually go for essential services?
In addition to meeting a lot of voters, I got to meet with Joe Scott, Shirley’s husband. What a nice guy. They are really nice people. Bradley and I were shaded most of the time but it was still plenty hot. Shirley actually came out and gave me a couple bottles of water for Bradley and me. That was very nice of her, especially after one of her staff people ‘tried’ to tell me I couldn’t give out my business cards in a public park! Unfortunately, this politics is a dirty business. The Scott’s are nice people. In golf, match play has two players play against each other. One wins, the other looses. I am old enough to remember when Jack Nicholas came up behind Arnold Palmer. What a great rivalry. To be followed by a young Tiger Woods who took over when their careers ended. So it is in politics. Dear Blogger reader, if you want a ‘New Vision for Tucson’ please vote for me on November 6th. I will be certain the party continues and it won’t be expensed to the taxpayers! Dan

Tucson Citizen –
“Power poles, trees and debris littered the streets of Tucson after a thunderstorm Friday produced two microbursts, sudden, huge gusts of wind. The more dramatic power pole toppling occurred just north of downtown along North 11th Avenue, from Sixth Street to Speedway Boulevard, Tucson Electric Power Co. spokesman Joe Salkowski said. …”
Hello,
I have the greatest friends anyone could have! On a night with storms, threats of more storms, lightening, and power outages we raised $500. Most importantly, we all had a good time. We had plenty of food and drink.
It never stormed at our TGIF Party! Not a drop.
Here is the reality check. I am in danger of not qualifying for City of Tucson Matching Funds. This would really be a shame. My opponent has raised $15,000 and with the matching funds she will have $30,000 to advertise her campaign. I have raised and spent $4,016. My campaign is debt free, but I have nothing to spend on Yard Signs, etc.
If I am going to run with the Big Dogs, I need you to send me a check now to:

Four months ago I stopped my business to become your candidate full time. I will continue to work 24/7 on this campaign until the election, Nov. 6th. I am making a significant sacrifice in personal income and I need your help to compete in this election. I am asking you to become my ambassador to your friends & family.
If our goal is to be successful and win this election it will take a lot of people doing what they can with support. Send something now before it is too late. I would rather be honest with you today, than making excuses in December. Dan

Hello Friends,
It is Saturday morning (7/21) and Bradley and I have returned from our long morning walk through Civano. Below you will find a short note I sent late last night to my kids back east. The kids are never very far from my thoughts.
Yesterday the ‘Kromko Initiative’ tossed a major monkey wrench into this campaign.
This time next week I will have had my first big fundraiser and I will better understand my chances for qualifying for matching funds. I’m convinced I will be your next Ward 4 councilman. You are a very important key to my success. Please have a look at the ‘new’ web site: www.DanSpahr2007.com. Ask your friends to look at the ‘new’ web site. There you will find an invitation (& map) to next Friday’s fundraising event. Please attend this TGIF and bring friends! Together we will be successful. Dan

Are you interested in what my days are like?
Today I stood outside a grocery store and gave away bumper stickers from 11 to 3:30pm. Fortunately I was in the shade and today it wasn’t to hot. Other times I have been there is has been triple digits. I probably gave away 80 to 100, ‘Support Our Troops’ paid for by DanSpahr2007.com bumper stickers. To date I have given away almost 2,000 at community events etc. Yesterday I stopped at a traffic light across town and saw a car with one of my stickers. What a hoot. Tonight I went on a ‘ride along’ with a police officer who works on my side of town. This was my second trip with them and probably my last. Been there done that. The ride along is something we need to do. Tomorrow is a lunch BBQ for Republicans and tomorrow night one of my Civitan friends is hosting a pot luck dinner party. Sunday after church we are gong to lunch with the pastor, his wife and another couple. Later Sunday afternoon our small group is meeting for dinner. Next Friday night some other Civitan friends are having a fundraising party for me. I really appreciate their efforts on my behalf. I need to raise a lot of money, this is not easy. Actually none of this campaign stuff is easy.
Have you looked at my campaign web site lately? I wish you would and tell me what you think. It has recently been overhauled.
I am enjoying all this activity. It is a wonderful learning experience.
Have a great weekend, Dad nq rttc
