I presented your concept at our Sr. Staff meeting earlier this week. Folks found it intriguing and applaud you for thinking in big terms about promotion of the arts. There were however several potential concerns/questions raised I will articulate here.
Also know that our Executive Director, Susan Franano would like to continue discussions with you about the arts in general and more specifically the TSO. You can reach her through her assistant, Becky Tobin at 792-9155 x115. She will be expecting you to call.
Some of the issues/questions we discussed include:
1. Competition from a proposed similar facility being planned in Oro Valley
2. Location could be a distraction from development of downtown and downtown redevelopment is very important to the arts.
3. Summer would not be the ideal season to hold outdoor performances (especially as a destination activity).
4. Do we know for certain that the facility will NOT be used for Spring Training, which could be a deterrent?
